Quebec Escape

This site is rural–a nearly 200-acre estate to be developed on rolling hills with a dominating view of a long lake to the east, and three ski mountains in the other cardinal points. It was to be a country house in a farm-like setting with barns, animals, maple syrup, and family gatherings. The result is a large and meandering structure spreading its four wings across a rock ledge on the crest of a hill. The private and guest halves of the house are brought together in a multi-story lodge room with massive stone chimneys, tree-like columns and commanding beams that are bathed in ever-changing sunlight.
