Round Hill Estate

This site is located 20 acres atop one of the highest hills of North Greenwich, where the decrepit remains of a 20th century stable and carriage house used to exist. Within this generous space is the best sunlight, views, orientation, and privacy. It was the quintessential location to meet the client’s primary wish: for the entire home to gather outside. The interiors were designed by the architect to resemble the industrial era of the structure’s first life. Steel was used to allow the interior spaces to be defined, and new columns were created of thin, lacy steel with exposed rivets and bolts. The kitchen wanted to stand out, yet fit into the warmth of the wood and stone. The result feels simple, but the effort was anything but.
